The Little Princess, Sara Crewe

Set at the turn of the 20th century, Sara Crewe, heiress to a large fortune, is enrolled in a prestigious boarding school while her father is in India.  When news arrives that her father has died, the head mistress, Miss Minchin, banishes Sara to the cold, dark attic to become the school’s maid. A mysterious gentleman from India takes the house next door, and suddenly Sara’s bleak life is transformed.  Camp Croft Playhouse.

The Velveteen Rabbit

An emotional journey through time told through the eyes of a young man looking back on his four-year old self and his relationship with his favorite toy, the Velveteen Rabbit.

The toy rabbit helps to teach the boy the rewards of loyalty, the poignancy of loss and the wonderful, surprising powers of love.  With the help of the old Rocking Horse, the Velveteen Rabbit learns how to become “as real as real can be.”

Hansel and Gretel

Lost in the woods, Hansel and Gretel are captured by a strange, near-sighted old lady who lures children to her cake and candy house.  With help from Trudi, the cat and the Jack-in-Box, they are able to out wit the witch, set everything to rights and return to their loving father.

Heidi

Heidi, happy in her Swiss mountains with her grandfather (Alm Uncle) and Peter, the goat herder), is suddenly whisked away by her Aunt Dete to live in Frankfort to be the companion to a young invalid girl, Clara who is in the care of the evil Mme Rottenmeier.

Heidi’s fun and mischievous personality win over everyone she meets, but her homesickness persuades Clara’s father to take Heidi back to her grandfather.  Clara visits

Heidi in the mountains and wonderful things result.
