The magical world of science, nature, and technology comes alive at the Spartanburg Science Center, a non-profit organization established in 1977.

The primary goal of the Science Center is to foster an appreciation of and respect for the environment and the world of science. With this goal in mind, the Science Center is designed to fascinate the minds of the curious and to excite the imagination of Spartanburg residents of all ages. It is also a place to pursue new interests and experiences.

Programming

The Spartanburg Science Center offers programs in all major fields of science. Many of these programs are conducted in a manner that allows participants opportunities for direct "hands on" involvement and learning.

The majority of the more than 25,000 people who annually participate in Science Center activities are young people from Spartanburg County schools. The Science Center also works with many community groups, including scouts, parks and recreation, the handicapped, day care, senior citizens, and garden clubs.
Most Science Center programs are out-reach activities taking place at area schools and in the community. These programs are available upon request.

Science Camps enable children to further pursue their love of animals, science, and the outdoors through both indoor sessions and field trips.

We have a program just right for you or your group. Give John Green a call today at (864) 583-2777.

Exhibits and Displays

The Science Center's permanent collections include exhibits and resource material on many science topics such as rocks and minerals, fossils, electricity, astronomy, insects, live reptiles, health resources, animals, and the human body. Our new portable Starlab is a popular and versatile addition to the Science Center. Most of these resources can travel to schools or community locations in addition to being on display at the Center.  The Science Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday
