The Chapman Cultural Center opened in October of 2007 in downtown Spartanburg at East St. John Street and North Converse Street, adjacent to Barnet Park. The three-building campus comprises 86,000 gross square feet, providing space for visual and performing arts, science and history:

  • 500-seat Community Theater, home to Spartanburg Little Theatre (including the Youth Theatre) and Spartanburg Repertory Company
  • Spartanburg Art Museum (SAM) of Art and Art School
  • Spartanburg County Regional History Museum
  • Ballet Spartanburg Dance Education Center
  • Spartanburg Science Center
  • Spartanburg Artists' Guild Gallery
  • Music Foundation of Spartanburg
  • The Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg

The Chapman Cultural Center is a place for celebrating history, science and the visual and performing arts and a place for them to flourish. A key program component is promoting educational and entertainment interactions among its visitors while simultaneously creating a civic presence for the site's downtown urban context.
